The Sister Oath
This project was a 1-page website with an extremely tight deadline. The objective was to quickly create the very beginnings of a new online community. Within the span of just a few days, I needed to coordinate with a graphic designer to implement an original design and put the whole thing on WordPress. The various sections of the page were set up using custom widget areas.
Here’s what the page needed to do:
- Capture users’ information and submit them into a database that would be simple for my clients to access. This was done using the WuFoo service to create simple and powerful web forms.
- Upon submitting their form entries, those users who checked the “Add me to the mailing list…” box were automatically added to an email mailing list hosted by MailChimp.
- The current number of users who signed the online oath needed to be prominently displayed. This number had to be automatically updated with each entry, of course.
- Provide multiple easy ways to share the page online.
- Links to multiple social media sites where users could “continue the conversation.”
