WordPress and UI Development for
Designers, Agencies & Tech Teams
I know, I know – your clients are clamoring for WordPress websites (who isn’t these days, really?), but you either don’t have the in-house resources to do this yourself, or you could do it yourself, but would rather watch a documentary on what really goes into hot dogs.
Pixel-perfect, W3-validated, semantic, and easy-to-follow XHTML and CSS code is my speciality. I love working with jQuery to enhance the user interface and make cool slideshows, image galleries, and what-have-you. I also do a fair amount of hacking in PHP in order to customize the functionality and appearance of the WordPress sites I work on.
When it comes to WordPress, my goal is to think from the perspective of the non-technical user and make customizations using code as well as the appropriate plugins to make updating the site a no-brainer.
I am very comfortable with multiple styles of project management, and make it a point to project-manage myself. Just ask any of my past clients, and they’ll tell you that they never once felt as though I needed to be reminded of deadlines and deliverables. I make it my goal to not require project management, but rather, to bring project management.
Whether it be just myself and 1 designer, or a small group with 2 designers and and a few other developers, or even large teams with upwards of 10 other developers, I have experience working in just about any type of setting.
I’ve worked quite a bit under the Agile Scrum system of project management, and I’ve also worked in very free-flowing and at-times-chaotic development teams, so no matter how your group is set up, I’ll have no trouble fitting in as though I were right there in the office with you, forcing you to listen to obscure jazz music blaring out of my computer’s speakers.
And if your team is using version control, I have experience working with Subversion and Microsoft Visual Source Safe.
With my custom-designed websites, my code is semantic and W3-compliant (unless we are forced to use a plugin or outside technology that breaks W3 standards), and is tested on the following browsers:
- IE 7, & 8 (IE 6 upon request)
- Firefox 2 & 3
- Safari
- Google Chrome
(just let me know if you’d need your site tested in a browser not listed here)
